Some time ago I bought a set of dining chairs, and promised my wife I'd make her a table to match. The chairs are made of parawood (rubberwood), which I have been told is just about impossible to find in Oz. I've been advised that brown terminalia (terminalia brassii) will give me a good match both colour and appearance wise.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has any experience working with terminalia. Ease of finish and shrinkage factor are important, as my design will likely involve breadboard ends (it's an extension table).

Any other suggestions for wood to use? It's important that the table match the chairs (no wiggle room there).
