Hey guys,

Im new to brewing, and my first batch has (i think) just finished fermenting. Going to check the SG tomorrow again, and bottle it if it is the same as todays. My question... is how is it meant to taste at this stage? I gave in to temptation and had a little taste after testing, and wow... it is nasty! Really bitter and sour.

I know it has a fair way to go yet, just wondered if this was normal?

Cheers!

Pete

Yep it will taste nasty ..... after you bottle it will go through secondary fermentation and will then improve with time.

As an ex home brewwer I would like to offer this advice. Always tase before bottling. You will get to know the taste of various beers before they go through the bottling stage. Once you know this taste then you can save yourself a lot of work cleaning bottles filling etc. Sometimes even the best home brewers have failures, in my experience, and is is better to find out befor bottling than when you open a bottle and it's crook for what ever reason.
