Hi My FIL is asking do I know where to get a free spinning wheel pattern to make a spinning wheel?

I just went there twice and tried again maybe server trouble I did notice that page hasn't been updated since 2001

A good spinning wheel is custom built to suit the person who'll be using it; taking into account their sitting height, skill level and what material(s) they're spinning. So having a set of plans is only half the battle if he wants that wow factor the first time they use it. IMHO he's better off buying a good book that explains the basics, then sitting down and designing his own.

I recommend Eric Corran's Understanding the Spinning Wheel (http://www.woolery.com/Pages/coversspin/understanding.html) - he's the spinning wheel's version of Vic Wood or Richard Raffan. :;

FWIW, making spinning wheels is what got me interested in wood turning in the first place. Then I stopped making 'em and started making curlies instead. I still have a couple of unfinished Castle style wheels cluttering the shed that I started on some 10 odd years ago... :B
