Well the bed is now well and truely finished. It has been returned from the workshop all nicely stained and lacquerd.

I had the stain it Baltic, and finished off with three coats of semi lustre lacquer

As requested here are some of the closer details for the bed

This is a close up of the head end, showing the mortice and tennon join into the leg.

Also just visable is the bottom cap which prevented the slats from falling straight through the bottom rail

This is a shot of the bed rail clip, I routered the reciever into the leg, just to add a bit of strength.

A shot of the top moulding, this was made from two peices of timber,then dowled and glued into place on top of the upper rail

A view of the slats located in the bottom rail, square mortices for the slayts were done by using TWO pieces of timber,and routing a trench through both pieces at once then laminating them together to form the board and slots

Finally a bit of leg detail.. stopped chamfer on all corners, and a cut away on the internal two faces of the legs.
