Myford backgear rumble

Friends,
My ML7R has a grumbling, rumbling noise only in backgear.
It does not seem to make any difference to cut quality, winding of springs etc, and does not seem to be aparrent in normal speed operation.
Any ideas?

That sounds like it could be normal. Check gears for damage, and proper clearance. Make sure they are lubricated, otherwise I would say it is OK. All lathes of this size, including mine make the same noise when back gear engaged.

Others may have better advice though, as I do not own a myford, and it is difficult to diagnose without actually hearing the noise you describe.
