Powermatic table saw splitter alignment

Ive just purchased a Powermatic 64A table saw (=10" deluxe contractors saw, from gpw) and am having trouble aligning the splitter. Youre supposed to loosen a couple of bolts from under the table to adjust it, but when you tighten the bolts the splitter moves. Any hints or tips on alignment?
