When in Brisbane just before christmas, I finally got around to getting myself, wait for it....................

A jointer and bandsaw.

I have never used either machine before in the past, :no:and I can't believe what a difference they make to the time to do a project. :oThe jointer took a little setting up after assembly. It probably took about an hour to achieve straight cuts. :U

The Bandsaw was even less, all I really had to do was adjust the bearings on the blade guides and it cut straght and square straight from the box.:U

While obviously not the best, they are a good starting point. Maybe down the track, they may be replaced with something bigger and better.

The jointer looks to be 10" wide... Yes/No?

I got an 8" long bed myself. The ability to straighten/square up shop brought timber has been fantastic. I now tend to buy rough sawn (cheaper) and dress it myself.

No, just a plain old 6" one I'm afraid.

Great gear... the band saw's fence looks the part is that standard or an extra? No, not extra, just the standard one that came with the saw, it's not fantastic, but kept adjusted and treated right, it should be right for a few years.

Thanks for your comments

Good one Specialist. :2tsup:

 the having a window shop, getting approval from SWMBO after explaining that you really need it, ordering it and then driving out to pick it up, unloading it off the trailer, setting it up and then... standing back and looking proudly at the new aquisition.

Gotta love it. :2tsup:

Hi big shed

The bs is a BP 355 14" the only complaint that I would have to have is that the trunion is made of 3mm steel, although it seems to be sturdy enough. I paid 759 dollars.

The real selling point for me was the top guide setup, It's very solid and has bearings instead of wear blocks. Being a Taiwanese machine, the finish is quite good.

hope this helps

Robert
