This box after turning has been worked out with Arbortech. Fantastic instrument for carving, but one has to get used to it as it eats the wood like an entire army left without food for a month. To smoothe it up you need some nice files.
The wood was left raw without finish

The shape is ispired from the fruit of nigella damascena . Mother nature often gives you some strange ideas.

Now that is spectacular! :2tsup: Any chance of a slightly bigger picture?

How long did it take for the turning and the abortech work? Is it hollow? Does the lid come off?

Gorgeous!!!!!!!

cheers

Wendy:
The turning part did not take long, but the carving, though quite efficient with the Arbortech still needs some finishing with smooth rasps… Took me a week-end<O:p

Yes,It could have been as, with no dimension nor reference one cannot tell how big or small it is. Sorry.<O:p

Many thanks to all of you for your very nice comments. I’m blushing in front of my screen.<O:p</O:p

The sculpture technique is difficult to master, but one can succeed with patience, but art is something which belongs to few certainly not to me.
This piece is from a great French sculpture artist, Dominique Flamme.
I urge you to go and visit his web site.

Most of his work, if not all, is inspired by nature,
