Have spent the past five weeks modifying and rebuilding the oval turning chuck. The latest version spins comfortably at 550rpm. This new box is amde from white beech, with an unknown species insert. It measures 120mm x 90mm and is 85mm deep. The banding is shop made and was needed to repair a split caused by the friction chuck which was a tad too tight. Starting to get the hang of this oval turning......... I think? :)

Stirlo, read the first post, the dimensions are there.
Dale, the chuck I use has been developed from one I saw in a book written by David Springett called "Adventures in Woodturning", ISBN 0 946819 57 2.
Do a 'google' on oval turning, that should give you plenty of reading material. Sorry about the broken arm.
