Newbie, looking for wood blanks.

Hi Folks; I am new to the forums. this is my first post. Anyone from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on here that could point me to a good place to pick up some wooden blanks. I just started turning and was looking for some place to get stock.

There are people here in Oz whom might swap some of your local for our local timbers - we're always looking for exciting new timbers.

There are 2 AAW chapters near, or in, Toronto. Go to https://www.woodturner.org/ Select "AAW Local Chapters" from the menu on the left-hand side of the page, and follow along to find web sites and/or contact info. The best wood is free wood (firewood, roadside orphans, etc.), and experienced turners can advise you on how to work through the scary part. Members may also have wood available for very low cost. Welcome aboard.

Thank you for the welcome folks, I will check out the local chapter of the AAW you suggested Joe. When I get some more info about woods available I will see if an exchange would be in the works.
As I said in my opening post, I am just getting started in the whole woodturning hobby. I will need a good grinding system, Dad did all his grinding by hand, and every chisel is ground way more than the recomended angles that I have noted in my tutorial cd. I wonder what would be a good tool grinding setup for a beginer? Or should this be another thread?

I posted a pdf file of my homebuilt traveling grinder system. You could build something similar around a real grinder.:)
