What did it cost in 1999 when he purchased it?

I bought my short bed VL300 with extension bed about then and I think I paid just over $5k so he would have been paid about that amount to.

Is $5000 the cost of just the lathe or would it include the chucks and rests too?

interesting question greg. does anyone know how much the prices have gone up. according to dj the lathe it self went up by a grand.

Thanks Stirlo, so I guess it is fair to assume he paid somewhere between $5000-7000 for the lot in 1999?

At that price the buyer got a bargain for a great lathe and the extras.

Th wife's VL300 cost about $3,800 about 4-5 years ago. Sounds like a good buy. In Carbatec's 2007 cat they are $5,495.

Just work out the plus's and minus's of it before you do it. She could be very understanding but then again....

I was once hounded for a birthday present - "All i want is flowers, dont buy me anything else" - so i gave her a packet of seeds and told her she could get the pleasure of watching them grow as well as flower, i told her she could spend a lot of time really enjoying them.

I have been divorced for over 12 years now.......
