Gday folks.. I'm sure I'm not the first to turn this stuff, but these bowls (although chunky and imho rough:-) seem to grab peoples attention.
no one has guessed it yet.. but then I have higher expectations of you lot than the un-woody's that I usually associate with.
not exactly fun to turn.. punky in places and constantly threatening to leap off the chuck
the little one in maybe 250mm across.

Looks very similar to some rotting Poplar sitting in the shed that will eventually become a vase

Ditto!
:D:D:DWe get a parasite (Loranthus species I think) that grows on some trees out here - they get quite large.
Rough turned this thing the other day - was a right royal pain the @rse to cut - couldn't get a clean cut at all. Had some nice grain, but not in a real hurry to do another one.
Wonder how this one will dry out - time will tell I guess.

Yellow box or Grey Box.. can't remember exactly, I did have them sorted into piles but they are all mixed up now.
I turned those two a while back when the balls were green.. I'm not sure that I'm looking forward to doing the rest bone dry.
edit: Thanks Hughie

Interesting read, Hughie. Thanks for the info.
I'd sure like to see some pics of that Mistletoe growing on a tree there. I'd like to keep those blokes at the fire department from too much of that hoo-rah they'll give me. :D
Our Mistletoe gets to be about 1" stem, max.
