A sawmill owner in Alabama, Wayne Keith, has converted two of his trucks to run on wood. You can see his first truck at video.aol.com (http://video.aol.com/video-detail/wood-burning-truck/2199427265). His second truck gets about 7 km per kg of dry wood. About 2.4 kg of wood will provide the same mileage as a litre of petrol. It only takes about 45 seconds to get the engine to run on wood. The original petrol system is kept in place so he can switch from one fuel to the other on the fly. You can read more about his wood-fuel truck at www.sfws.auburn.edu (http://www.sfws.auburn.edu/south/woodtruck.html). Source: NZIF Newsletter, Letter from Professor David South, Auburn, USA

My cousin in The Netherlands has a business renovating those old Dutch Farmhouses (called borderrij) with the barn all under one roof. He has around 34 employees and a factory of around 2000 sqm in the barn of the house he lives in. He manufactures all the specialised framing and replicates all the old style windows, doors etc in this factory. I tell you this because it gives an idea how much sawdust he has.

He runs a boiler to heat around 250 sqm of offices and the family home on the sawdust from the factory. The sawdust is blasted into the furnace with compressed air and a fine water spray. Essentially it is a fine mist concoction. The boiler is all automatic and does not give any problems, and because of the process involved in utilising the sawdust the flue emmissions are well below the government recommendations.

I know it's not the same as say running the Kenworth on sawdust, but I thought it relevant.
