Started this puppy last weekend and finished it today. A hair under 40cm's accross this thing took some time to do. The attached pitcures are after I sprayed it down with water to get all the dust out of the bark, I wasn't expecting such stunning colours.

Now looking for some advice on how to finish this puppy with an oil or SOMETHING to bring these colours out. Want to avoid any friction polish due to the amount of voids in the piece. Not adverse to wiping on something multiple times though. Thoughts, suggestions?

Found the thread (http://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=67925) you referred to, that might just be next weekend's project. Thanks.

You could also just use Wipe-on-poly, ready to go from your local Bunnings. Danish Oil also works a treat on burls giving a silky finish and brings the colour out
