G'day,
Just a few questions:

Has anyone ever made or used a wooden chain (upscaled from a bike chain).
Proposed Speed - 5 RPM
Load - Not large - just cams and rods lifting marbles.

Thanks

Why not?
If I was making them I'd be inclined to use timber links with metal pins
I suppose its easy enough to make an accurate pinhole drilling jig.

Thanks Bob,
I reckon the jig making would be half the fun of such a project.

I remember seeing an all-wood pushbike on the 'Net some time back, here (http://www.leevalley.com/newsletters/Woodworking/2/3/article1.htm) it is. Some details on the chain construction, which looks exactly like a real one except the pins are held in position with smaller pins!

Cheers,

Thanks Andy, Just what I was looking for.
Thank God you didn't recommend another book, as my shelf is fast filling up with Andy Books like the Modern Blacksmith and Mechanical Marvels in Wood........Phew!!
