1x15 bass cab

just finished the bass cab earlier today. its made from 18mm partcle board with 18x18mm edge braces. its been glued and screwed and ive covered it with some black vinyl from bunnings, and some shadecloth. iwas eyeing off the shadecloth at bunnings for a while thinking i'd use it for a cab. then i realised that i had a whole roll of the stuff in the righ colour in the garage from the previous owners which worked out well. the design is a ported one, tuned to 42-45hz (depending on the actual volume) with a 120L or so volume. the speaker is the 15" bass speaker from www.warehouseguitarspeakers.com . the 16ohm ones were on special for 30$ american, so i brought 2 back when visiting family in canada. ill make the slightly smaller brother with the other one (an 80L cab).

here is a pic showing the way it was put together. i used over 5m of the 18x18mm bracing pieces in doing this, with well over 100 screws.

here is the cab when i originally put it together and used it for a couple weeks. went well, but decided it was time to finish it.

here is the cab after gluing the main part of the vinyl. notice the channel 45mm from the edge. this was where i put some chord in to act as piping, and look decorative while hiding where the 2 pieces of vinyl would have to meet.

here is the inside of the cab, showing the acoustic wadding (hobby fill from spotlight) which i held in place with some flyscreen. you can also see the ports, which i epoxied on, then used a router with a template following bit, and followed the port to keep the baffle perfectly flush with the ports inner diameter.

here is the cab finished, showing the rear with the chord used as piping. worked perfectly. the cloudiness on the vinyl isn't on the actual cab. it was probably just where i wiped the pva off after gluing the chord, and is just a wet spot that needed to dry.

looks great
now all you need is the blacklab logo on it :D

i generally paint the baffles in matt black but it looks kinda cool with the speaker cone and ports showing

i know, looks like it needs some type of logo on it doesnt it. will have to figure something out to put on it.
