hey guys...

was in Canberra the other week at the Kayak Club's time trials. Capeboatworks had this Mystery 20 strip plank kayak, I think it is a Guillemot design.... anyway this looks absolutely wonderful and fast.....

From what I could see it went just as fast if not faster than the K1's....

There is a photo of it on the front page of www.capeboatworks.com.au

This has to be the fastest sea kayak available... I want one...

Hi Moondog,

The Mystery is a damn fast sea kayak. It's won sea kayak events in NZ and the US/Canada. Not sure about here, this is one of the first I've seen here although I believe a Vic Sea Kayak Club member did build one out of foam strip which would have been light and fast.

www.guillemot-kayaks.com design it, Cape Boatworks are their agent here. See the Guillemot page (under Kayak Plans -> Other Designs -> Mystery for full specs. Very unstable compared to other sea kayaks, it's built just for speed (and not really for turning corners!). Goes like a rocket apparently.

Definitely on my list of kayaks to build...

Regards,
Darren
