Stipple finish on gunstock

I have just finished a new gunstock in European Walnut. I would prefer to stipple the grip areas rather than checker them as I think it looks more unique.

Does anybody have any hints on stippling?? I have seen some punches in MIK international's catelogue that look like they would do the job.

Any tips or comments will be useful
