Can someone please point me to a Granberg retailer in Central Vic (Kyneton) who can supply the chainsaw sharpening accesories?

Many Thanks

Ralf

I have purchased a stihl chainsaw and accessories from VCTraders in Vic not sure if they have Granberg but they are happy to do mailorder and also sell on ebay. Excellent to deal with.

any of the local chainsaw places will be able to get anything you need. at least in qld they can. but watch out prices vary wildly.:2tsup:

Here you go, amazing what you find on the internet!

Edit:

This mob (http://www.atraes.com.au/shop/index.asp?Cat1ID=%7BD9A076B3-31A9-4CFA-A064-49DF029ED6EF%7D) sell them online

I was a bit concerned with this type of item that postage might be a bit high but I guess I'll give one a try and see how it goes.

Cut a couple of cubic metres of firewood today - think the chain needs a sharpen.

By the way - how do I tell what size file I need?

What type of chain are you using?

Hmmmmm, one is the standard stihl chain that comes with a 25" bar and the second is made up by the dealer from bulk chain. No idea other than that, is there somewhere I can measure it?

For that size, you'll have either 3/8" or .404", 3/8" is 13/64" file and .404" is 7/32" file.

This pdf (http://web.aanet.com.au/belos/SharpAdvice061301final.pdf) may be well worth a read regarding saw chain maintenance.

Note that the chain size is probably stamped on the bar

im not sure that you are sorect there DJ 3/8" chain should be sharpend wiht a 7/37 file when doing general sawing otherwise there is to mutch hook in the tooth and it grabs. milling on the otherhand you want ac mutch hook as you can get. if it a standard stihl saw it will be 3/8" chain but it will be stamped on teh bar at the powerhead end it may even have the file size to.

OK, sounds like I need 13/64" or 7/32", eventually I want to mill (one day) so I may as well order those two sizes.

I'm going to take the online option, I have a sharp chain left if I need it in the mean time.

Thanks for all the help.

Big Shed,

That Stihl pdf is excellent. Now I need to order the 3/16" files as well since the MS250 I have has 0.325" chain.

Many thanks
