Just thought i'd give everyone a quick heads up , i just installed some printer maintenance kits (HP4250) at work, and i found the old fusers contained a nice thick piece of aluminium, probably about 350x25mm in size, perfect for small projects.

Turned up a bench dog using one and it turned out a treat:2tsup:

What's a printer maintenance kit? Not the cartridge?

Hi Hux, no not the cartridge.

The maintenanc kit is used on medium/larger printers every 200-250K pages, it replaces the fusers and usually the main rollers.

The fuser is the part with the bars. The best bars i have found so far were in a HP Laserjet 4250 which wehave several of and my workplace.:2tsup:

All our maintenance is contracted out unfortunately so other than cartridge changes you don't get to touch them.

Looks like I'll just have to buy - well maybe our HP5L goes down at home I can do it.

Hux, just ask the technician doing the work if he throws away the old fusers, we had a printer repaired recently and the guy was happy he didnt need to cart the old fuser back to the office.
