This is a birthday present for my daughter-in-law.

Made from some offcuts and bits left from a batch of cutting boards as a result the pieces were already glued up in strips, so the end grain joins line up
instead of the overlapping long grain glue joins. To provide some extra mechanical strength I made a brass ring for the top.

The wood is silky oak, walnut, jarrah. Finished with shellac and EEE-ultra-shine.

Mechanism is crush grind.

Very nice Ray :2tsup: Just one question for you, in the last picture it looks like there is a groove in the barrel, if this is so what's it for?

Looks like a groove doesn't it, actually it's the rod that drives the grinder mechanism. Optical illusion.

:doh: now that you mention it, it is isn't it :U. Should have worked that out for myself, it's a good optical illusion, taken at just the right angle :o

Looks good RayG :2tsup::2tsup:
and I think the brass ring suites it very well.
