Got lately a couple of oak table tops. What to do with table tops.
This question was not so hard to answer, since my daughter Karin live on her own for almost a year, and she can still use a lot of things for her household.
So I made a serve platter for her, nice for snacks, or other stuff.
And I had my fun this week, only the oak was pretty hard to turn, so I had to sharpen my tools very often.
The platter is finished with three layers Glitsa, this is a kind of floorlacquer, washable and scratch resistant.

Thanks for looking.

Looks really nice ADC and a good use of an old table top. Last time I turned English Oak, I found it very slow going with the sanding so it was really essential to try and get a good clean finish of the tools. Your oak looks a bit different though,

Cheers,

Very well done ADC.:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:
Simple, uncomplicared lines suit the nice grain in the timber.

Good conversion from square to round, Ad. And extra grooves on the bottom are a nice refinement.
