okay now whats for dinner? lol. nice list. The only thing about buying plans online is you cant see what you are buying first. Hate tiny instructions you need a magnyfing glass to read. The last set I bought didnt print out to the proper dimentions stated in the materials list.

Hi there woodwork fellas,
Not being a carpenter myself, I am not actually into making dolls houses, but making potential museum pieces is an interest. I admit to a fascination with miniature pieces, especially when made to scale, and when high quality..
My interest lies in making a video/dvd of dolls in dolls house which come magically alive, and I already have 200 hours of footage. The project has been put on the back burner until recently, due to a long battle with ill health etc. A carpenter who has done some work for me, showed interest in the plans for The Wiltshire manor dolls house, which re- kindled my interest and now after his 200? hours of work, is complete.
I have offered to sell the plans for this house, which I put into an ebook (that took days), purely to raise funds for a charity. I once owned this dolls house and used it in a shop to attract interest. You can view it at my blog... on woodworkforum or you can see the latest pics on my http://dollshousedolls.blogspot.com
I promised John, the carpenter (aged 75) that I would promote his work and try to get at least one order, so now have an ad on ebay. (he hasn't charged me for the full time it took) What I have learnt about dolls houses/toy making is that you become totally absorbed and relaxed. It is a very pleasant hobby and utisies all creative skills, from art to sculpture . The other dolls house patterns are probably in the ball park you mention above. Have a look at the wiltshire house to see what can be achieved! It's on ebay under dolls, miniatures and in the name of tencentchallenge. Dolls house 3 storey, 8 rooms, masterpiece all handmade (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320309472196&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:AU:1123) Personally, I have had the most fun creating a dolls house garden and chookhouse, with chooks, birds, pond, tortoise, snake, plants and trees, plus plants in a glasshouse. A one roomer on a table with a garden and a couple of dolls, plastic pieces repainted - plus fences and birds is a great hobby while watching tv. "do what you enjoy, and enjoy what you do!"
kind regards Mega

Wheel......... didn't you noticed I said FREE patterns? I wouldn't buy them .... like you ... I want to make sure they're ok.... but FREE? What are you going to loose?

Mega..... I found some free doll house patterns on line, but they aren't the museum quality kind...... more the Barbie style... what I really like is the ones I saw in a german book ones... Simple, pleasing to look at, well made houses children could actually play with..... not just look at.... the real toy... not the version for grown ups. I've also seen some bendable dollhouse dolls on line... they looked like they have wooden heads and would fit beautifully into the kind of modern style house I have in mind.

[quote=keju;822275]Wheel......... didn't you noticed I said FREE patterns? I wouldn't buy them .... like you ... I want to make sure they're ok.... but FREE? What are you going to loose?

What you lose is exactly as mentioned above. Good qualiy, readable patterns and hints to go with it.. in my case, The wiltshire manor is only being sold to donate the money to the Blind in underdeveloped countries.
and in this case you can see the desired result.
Not what everyone wants, but you get what you pay for. And there are still sellers out there who value their customers and give more than expected. I bought a 1.00 nursery set,(cot and mattress, high chair, and min baby toys) +10.00 postage from america, and the dealer threw in 2 additional baby dolls.
That is Quality. and that person deserves my future patronage.. They are building a quality business and delight the customer with their efforts.
Which leads me to ask the question "is there no value in the work that the person did in copying and digitising the FREE pattern?" I am sure you would want your work valued.

Mega, I keep thinking somewhere we've got our wires crossed? I did not copy, digitize or do anything else with these patterns.... these are patterns offered by the owners of the sites.
Downloading them to have a look all you loose is maybe time. I have "wasted" a lot of time downloading, but I have also been rewarded with some really good, usable patterns.
Of course, most of the time ( not always tho) you get better quality and service when you pay for your patterns, but again... looking costs you nothing .... and I have seen some pretty bad patterns among the ones I bought!
