I have today to assist Ken taken an item from my Model A 1967 vintage Hercus Lathe, compared the part to 200 swatches at Bunnings.
The closest match for the Green was Taubman Pesto Green T97-8.
When I returned I compared the lathe colour with this swatch, it closely matches the lathe colour, the stand purchased in 1967 with the lathe is slightly different green., I have the invoice.
Please note the colour swatches are matte and highlights from a semi or full gloss can create changes. Please note the colour looks light but is in fact much darker than you think. Also I brought home all the other close at first swatches and tried them with the lathe colour.
Advice given by the paint guy at Bunnies was he would mix a trial pot, this when done would enable a larger area to be painted in the gloss of choice to compare when dry.
Does someone in Melbourne have a Hercus around the vintage of Kens where he can compare greens near where he lives compare apples with apples.
Have success with your lathes.

Hi Pete,

Many thanks for going to all this trouble for me, I really appreciate it.

As Pete suggests, I would like to hear from a Hercus owner in Melbourne who's lathe is still painted in the traditional Crowhurst green.

This will enable me to match colours.

The Hercus I'm restoring was originally green, and the little darlings at Tech school painted all of it blue, and I mean everything.

My Hercus is a 9" 1974's vintage, model AR.
