Looks like it has been professionally manufactured and it works damn well too. Have you spot welded the cone to the cylinder?

Yep all the steel joints were spot welded then soldered.

beats the heck out of a lot of other ways.

need to use sulphuric acid as the flux to cope with the burnt stuff from the gal.

Hi Soundman,

Very professional! How big is the vacuum cleaner you are using to drive it?

Much more gooder looking than mine. :)

Unbelievable how effective these little suckers are. After doing a few trial runs with mine I emptied the collection bucket and cleaned out the vac and filter really well. Now I am using it for real it will be interesting to see how long it takes for everything to fill/block up. At the moment it spends most of its time connected to the ROS, a big test for fine dust. Won't be long soon though and I will move onto bigger and better sawdust for it though.

Congratulations on a very proffesional effort, this is a credit to your ability.

Soundman (and company)

I'm in the process (long porcess) of building a shed and have watched these threads quite a bit. Some argue that the new 1? micron filters will do away with the need for a cyclone but your pictures seem to put the lie to this, particularly as to the ease of emptying. Was your test done with seriously fine dust or more your table saw variety?

Thanks chaps.

Must make a correction.
the acid used as flux was hydrochloric.

Next project is a full sized sucker for the saw bench.

the dust used in the test was a good mixture including a large amount of fine sanding dust.

the vacume cleaner is a pulman commercial unit about 1500 watt i think.

cheers cahps
