Gatto plan
I have just received from the States a set of plans from Gatto plans, it’s a model of 1930 Buffalo fire truck although the plans are very well detailed the instructions are in 8 point, making them very hard to see, I was a little disappointed with this.
They are also not to any scale unlike the plans from Toys and Joys which are scaled to the full size finished model and all you have do is trace off them making construction a lot easer.
One good thing about Gatto plans is that you don’t have to get any wheels or extra pieces like the Toys and Joys plans and there is detailed drawings of how to make the wheels there is a lot more work and over all detail in the finish model compared with the plan of 1933 Seagrave fire tuck from Toys and Joys which I am about to start in a month or so there is no email address to contact Gatto Plans which I did not realise till after I purchased the plans also there is no confirmation of your order it will be a while before I attempt to make the fire truck from Gatto I am not deliberately making any disparity remarks.
I thought I would put in a post on my thoughts so far in case there was anyone thinking of getting a set of plans from this company over all they have been good to deal with :)

Hi Colbra,

Sounds interesting... I am particularly interested in how they say to make the wheels. Is it possible to post any of the info?

Regards,

Chipman:)

I am not sure the file might be to big

if file is too big - I'd also be interested in a PM. I'm making my first toy - a 'ride on truck' at the moment. I cut larger wheels on a circle router jig and then used a lathe (I had to buy one for this) to shape them. I'll try to post a Work In progress next week. I have thoroughly enjoyed this new forum!

cheers

Hi Mick
Sounds good.... Mick how big is the ride on truck, the wheels for the fire truck are only about 65mm in dia the fire truck is a model about 17 inches long
are these the sort of wheels that you are after. If you go to this site http://www.lakewoodies.asn.au/ and look in Gallery at Ray Badnam's models.
And you will see what I mean if thats what you are after get back to me on this forum
Regards colbra :)

If you can get access to a photo copier with an enlargement facility that will take care of the hard to read instructions:2tsup:

Hi Pheonix
I think I can do it with my printer as well. The plans are very detailed, and the printing very small there are 10 pages, check them out
