Truely amazing, as a result of some research by my uncle we have been able to increase our speed rates from about 400mm/min to about 700mm/min. We are only using threaded rod and didn't really expect anything to fast.
All that was done to increase our speed was to make very cheap dampers and bolt them onto the end shafts of our stepper motors. Works very well.

Unfortunately I don't have an uncle, so can you please share the details ... perhaps even pictures?

Thanks anyway mate. This thread got me looking at different dampeners so i did a bit of a search and found the following link:

The deisgn seems pretty good and the results seem the same. Hoep this helps anyone else looking. Hopefully if i get a chance this week ill machine up a dampener and try it out for myself.
