just bought a mc900 , only used a lathe 3 times when i was in school and loved it.

was wondering where do i get wood from around brisbane and what would i look at paying? looking at turning some bowls and just learning small stuff

Where in Bris?
If you hook up with other turners you will possibly end up building a network where you can swap.
If you insist on spending your hard earned then David Drescher at Slacks Creek ( South East Qld, Woodworking supplies), Lazarides and Carbatec are worth a try. Get onto Weisyboy via these forums. He is sure to help out. I have some stuff here also.

What they said. And cruise your neighbourhood for "roadside orphans." Free wood is best, and green is less liable to catches. Let it warp to expand your creativity and experience.

Welcome aboard, and post some pictures as soon as possible. We LOVE pictures.
