Here are some pictures of the table, I just finished making.

The chairs are not the finished chairs that I will be using. (Have not started the chairs yet.)

All made from 220mm X 50mm Solid Wenge.

Big and expensive Eastwing, I priced larger section of wenge a while back and it was about $13,000 per cube. Very sweet looking table though.

Yeah I've got a big bag of waste from the Thicknesser, must be worth a few hundred.

I have a small piece of Wenge in the shed too. :D

Seriously, I hope that you've kept the off-cuts. The are great for making plugs, inlays and door knobs.

Nice table my friend. :2tsup:

That is a really elegant table.

What thickness did you end up with for the top and how did you bring it down to that thickness.
Your poor thicknesser!

Yeah I think it's the photos as my floor looks a bit Orange for spotted gum.

Nice work,

What finish did you use?
When making the table top, how did you prepare the edges for gluing, ie after ripping the timber with the panel saw, did plane the edges with the C3 31?
For the table top, did you use a biscuit cutter, Domino or some dowelling device?

Nice work,

What finish did you use?

sprayed single pack (satin).

When making the table top, how did you prepare the edges for gluing?

Festool TS75 with 3m guide rail, Then a light pass with a spiral up-cut bit using a straight edge as a guide, then through the thicknesser.

For the table top, did you use a biscuit cutter, Domino or some dowelling device?

I have both a biscuit cutter and a Domino, I did not use either just clamped edge to edge. (Frontline clamps help)

Hope that answers some questions.

I thought the colour didnt look right for Wenge either, stock here in the UK is almost black. The table must weigh a ton as well.

Looks a lovely job and should last a lifetime and the wood will be worth a fortune in 100 years time.

Luverly table. For a table that size and with what looks like narrow aprons, did you use just a M&T joint or did you use some sort of reinforcement?

Mortice and Tenon joints with corner blocks, I put a 45 chamfer on the inside top of each leg, then glue a corner block on.

I just realised I never updated this with some photos of the chairs.

I really like it, 300mm wide is more than enough and the 240mm height is really handy my friend has a 500mm+ wide thicknesser yet it only has a height of 200mm.

I'm thinking about changing over to a Felder CF741.
