Intersting story on NSW Sea Kayak Club site (http://www.nswseakayaker.asn.au/magazine/70/bull.htm) where a guy had his new carbon/kevlar kayak munched on by a shark off Tasmania.

It is not really something you would think of when building a kayak (his was an Aussie built Nadgee (http://www.nadgeekayaks.com.au/default.asp) ) but shows that for those 1 in a million events it might be worthwhile considering a bit of extra puncture resistance on the hull of a sea going kayak or canoe.

I paddled with John a couple of months ago on Tuross Lake. It seems the experience hasn't put him off kayaking.

What he doesn't mention in his account of the incident is that he had the foresight to use his wife's kayak for that trip.

Is he the same John Wilde as paddled down some Himalayan river about 25-30 years
ago & was a mover & shaker in white-water circles in Launceston?
cheers

The short answer is yes.

A longer answer is yes and he was recounting some of his experiences as we paddled around Tuross Lake. He certainly has some entertaining stories to tell about some of the places he has been and the things he has done.
He doesn't show much sign of slowing down either.
