Have not posted many post, but have benefited from reading many interesting and informative discussions.Thought it time to share a small piece. With the help of a generous person in donating off cut veneer pieces and the artistic help of two willing mothers we endeavoured to enlighten 18, 9 to 10 year olds the joy and satisfaction of working with wood. The clock backs where made from 6mm mdf and then painted in acrylic. Kids designed clock faces to suit interests of fathers/pops, selected appropriate veneers,grain/colour and proceeded to cut them out . Lots of split, broken destroyed pieces before final results. great lesson in patience and perseverance.Glued with pva and clamped. Small pieces super glued. Detail directed by kids completed by mum with burning tool. Got to be careful! Sealed with clear estapol spray and mechanisms installed. Worth the effort to see satisfaction and pride. Hopefully some future woodies.

A great idea ....:) it must be very satisfying to see the result. Thanks too for pointing the children in the direction of woodwork.

Brilliant idea! Great way to get them interested early. Looks like a couple of them are more interested in football though!:2tsup:
