Probably time for a visit to your local woodworking tool vendor, take your new/old chisel with you, ask for some guidance. After you get into the process with a man made stone or two you'll know much more and can start thinking about some natural stones.

Hi, Cassca,

There's a long and fairly comprehensive discussion on the Forum here: http://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=79493.

Maybe it'll help. Or maybe you want to post your question there, as there's an already lengthy discussion going on, with many members.

Best,
Becky

Too bad. You might want to call Dieter at http://www.fine-tools.com/scharf.htm after reading this page. He's trustworthy and very knowledgeable.
