For now this is my last birch turning, I'm running now completely out of birch :C, so I have to look for a new supply.
This birch squat bowl is 162mm in the largest diam, and 120mm in height, wall thichness 8mm, hollowed out till a depht of 100mm.
Finished with three layers colorless lacquer.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers. Ad

Very graceful, Ad. And has a "gravitational" effect almost like a water-filled balloon.

Beautiful curve Ad.. I've turned very little birch. You made a pretty vessel of it. Hope you find more.

Good work Ad:2tsup:

That shape, for me anyway, is difficult to do...you've executed it beautifully!!

Guess you'll have to go to the Baltics for a Birch hunting/gathering trip!:U

It's a beauty, Ad, fine shape and great piece of wood too.
The look of your Birch is rather like our younger Camphor.
Good luck finding more Birch.

Thank you all for your nice comments.
Got yesterday an offer for a big birch tree, they say I can turn buckets out of this tree, only I have to pick it up 350km away from my home :(

Ad,

A couple of suggestions:

1. Win the lottery and become benevolent.

2. Spend some time in Oz, say a year or two, free board and lodgings at various places, north, south, east and west.

3. Share your knowledge and become a teacher of note.

4. Start with my place first, I need the instruction still.

Your various turnings... I and others no doubt are in awe.

thanks for the pics again
