Who needs a metal detector when you have a good thicknesser? A thicknesser will do a great job every time.

Bastard, bastard, bastard, bastard, bastard, bastard…..

:o Oh dear me. :U

Did that once, thankfully the nails were so soft from being pretty much rusted that after the initial :yikes: I found out the HSS blades survived without a nick.

My heart goes out to you. :grouphug:

What the hell is a soft nail mate? How pathetic is that. My thicknesser only cuts strong, tough nails.

Oh that feels so good. :U

So why were you machining recycled timber without running the metal detector over it in the first place

So why did you bang nails into your new timber before thicknessing it:p

My 15 in ch Jet also has a nice nail knick right in the centre, still plenty of blade life left though so I will just live with it until they dull down:rolleyes:

I'm so sorry Scott.:C:C:C

On the positive side maybe others will be careful and avoid your mishap thanks to you reminding us.

If it wasn't recycled timber, what was it and where did you get it from?

Studley's floor pack.

Scott,

Look at the bright side. Now you can have custom designs embossed on the surfaces of your machined boards, like I did for a while, after a similar experience.

BobL, (I think) mentioned to me that Henry Bros can resharpen, if it was a deep nick.
