Thanks rsser,

This is a very handy jig to have, and simple to make as the we are giving all the info and help needed by the designer himself.
A very generous way to share, pass on, ideas, secrets and abilities, good on'ya Stan.

What he said, Ern and Stan.

Whether "right" or "wrong" (We can fight that war separately), jigs facilitate consistency. Bevel angle "creep," from free-hand grinding, has been my nemesis for a long time, although I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Commercial jigs just seem too dear for their excess baggage of cost.

Yeah, but there's a cost in everything.

With time and practice and wasted HSS I expect I could get the hang of properly dressing eg an Ellsworth sig gouge without a jig. That would only be cheaper for not costing the time.
