Broke down and bought a new bandsaw.
The old craftsman just got to be more trouble than
it was worth, Had to have the blades made for it, they
didn't last very long, figured out the rubber on the wheels
was too hard and I had to over tighten to get it to pull the
blade so they broke too soon.
Got a Skil 9", with laser and work lite. Blades are available in
several types.
Works fine, I am very happy so far. Not sure why I need a laser??
The old saw is going to the school shop, they have one that needs
a motor and the motor is fine on mine. In fact, the saw has not been
used that much, just sat around for about 20 years. It has three small
wheels and I think that did not help the blade problem. The throat was
16" on it. I am going to have to adjust to the smaller stock limitation.
