Ohh dam you got me on that one file:///C:/Users/Dina/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif and I am an electrician I am suppose to know these things ha-ha. I got the motors and drives last year while in china (I lived there for a few years) as I was already contemplating building a cnc machine then. the motors and drives are from YAKO , the drives are yka2608mc and motors are yk86hb80-04, I understand they need 24-80 volts so was looking at around 60volts DC and I was told last year by the manufacturers that 20 Amps was the target. Now I am assuming this is using one single power supply for all three motors?????? Is this the way to go or do I use three smaller power supplies????????

The motors and drives are, or seem to be very good quality and produce around 4.5 N.m of torque with a 4.2 A/phase and if I go ahead with the build want something that is very reliable. Any help or comments would be received with great thanks

Hi Tony,
I don't think you are going to get a 20 amp switching power supply off the shelf unless you have deep pockets.
Sounds like you need to build up a regulated power supply using a toroidal.

An unregulated linear supply will give you that. If spec'd adequately they are almost bullet proof. Just three basic components.

Looks like I have done it again. :(
I meant unregulated - kick ground, mumble to myself mumbo jumbo electronics and shuffle off quietly. Geeze I thought I would be safe answering that one.
I am glad you blokes keep me honest.

For the backspace, use Ctrl + X after highlighting what you want to delete.

Sorry, I don't know enough to know if you will need more that 1. I just thought it would me the spec for your original question.

I can help with the backspace key problem. You need to type slower, not make mistakes, and then you don't need backspace. :D
