Hello....I am looking for a supplier of small "skein nuts" which are the things like the metal threaded inserts you find in the centre of wooden cabinet knobs. I need ones to take 3/16" UNC or similar. (metric would be ok). I have tried Cornalls and lots of other places but nobody seems to carry the size I need.
.....thanks..Keef

I'm not 100% sure of what you're asking but you could try the Thomas Warburton in Dunlop rd in the Mulgrave area of melbourne.
Or even The restorers barn in Castlemaine.

goodluck.

Try "Hafele".
I know they have ( not a skein nut as such ) but, a 4mm brass spreading dowel !!!! I use these on a couple of things and; work fine .
Inexpensive too .

God Forbid, I am just a newcomer to this site but I use a lot of threaded inserts and they are from Bunnings. They are a M6 thread on the inside and require a 5/8" hole (I think) to drive them into with an allen key.'They come in 13mm and 20mm lengths and cost about $1.50 for a pack of 4.
