G'day everyone,

I've decided to give a WIR a go at the new house and was hoping for advice on where to get the best deal on the materials in Melbourne. I've priced up the shelving at Bunnings but my first issue is the sizes. From the wall to the arcs is 420mm but all I could find the closest I could find there was 490mm. I'd like it to sit flush inside the arcs if possible and not have to cut out any corners.

Could anyone give me a recommendation on anywhere that might be able to cut to measure, or is that asking a bit too much. I'd even take the standard size and have them shave off the extra, but the rather unhelpful guy at Bunnings told me if they cut the Laminate it chips and is pretty rough. I'd have no issue cleaning it up but quite frankly the guy was pretty rude to me given I was looking for advice. Is Laminex best, or Melamine ????

I'm not the brainiest bloke when it comes to asking for exactly what I am after, but am very handy and have a could of tradies who are also very good with their hands, so building will be fine.

Cheers
Damo

Welcome to the forum (or is it mad house?)

I'd give Bunnings a miss and talk to a kitchen fabricator
Don't know about Bleak City, but here in the Emerald City there's several people who advertise kitchen cabinets in flat packs — give them your dimensions and they'll cut the malamine board to size and edge band it for you — all you then have to do is put it together

worth a stroll through the yellow pages or local community paper
