Milford Wood Turning Lathe

G'day Just looking for advice on selling a Milford Lather previously owned by my late husband and his father before him. Firstly where would be the best place to advertise it and at what value. It is made in England originally sold by CMG Machinery in Redfern. It is made of Cast Iron , working bed is 36" long and 36" high Any advice would be greatly appreciated :?

Very difficult to come up with a value without knowing it's condition and what accessories are with the lathe. Some pics would help if you can post them here??!!:U

milford lathes are quite good and it seems to have a good working distance, if its in good nick then you should get something decent for it, also remember the chisels are very expensive so show pics of them to and any other accessories like a scroll chuck they to if good quality can fetch a good price. i recommend going to your local wood turning group and asking them you never know someone might want to give it a good home (i know i would:U its just a matter of money :no:). good luck with finding a buyer

is this your late husbands lathe? i know of a newer type from Myford but couldn't find much on it

The Myford lathes in thier day were a quality pieces of machinery. well made British workmanship. :2tsup:

just found out a bit more. as far as i know Myford only made 2 types of wood lathes ever the one i gave a link to and a newer one. reading up it sounds like the old Myford as you said before it had 36" or so now that fits in with the older one as the newer Myford had 39"

Hey guys thanks for the interest the thread is not dead and I will be posting some pics soon The lathe is a Milford not a Myford it is very old with a work height one piece solid stand. It is English machinery I have taken the pics and they are now on my computer I just need some help to transfere them to this thread Probably will have my son do it Sunday or Monday So sorry for the delay but life is hectic this time of year as you all know.

I'd be interested in taking a look as I am in Western Sydney purely being nosey.

I think I have seen one before when a young by, if correct the bed comes away from the main headstock to allow for larger bowl turning of course it has to be bolted to the floor.

sorry about the confusion but i presumed it must have been "Myford" because i cant find anything on "Milford" a bit more searching today and i still cant find the lathe you have pictures of, i however could find a similar one here http://www.lathes.co.uk/harrisonwood/
but im sure its not the same model or company. if you could tell us what the company name is on the ways and what the writing s on the headstock that im sure would be most helpful. the lathe looks in good shape just remember to wipe all the tools and any bare metal with oil every once and awhile to stop rust oh and is there any other accessories to the lathe like a face plate (big metal disc with holes in it)?
