Airless spray guns

I have alot of painting of timber to do around the house, including some large wall areas covered with pinus match-board. I also need to paint various items of wooden furniture. I'll mainly be using acrylics. I asked a professional painter about airless spray guns like the Wagner handyman range and he said that they are are only suitable for small jobs, I know you can get airless guns up to several thousand dollars which is well outside my league. Can someone suggest an alternative that would basically suit a handyman, but have enough guts to do house painting?
