A search around the web brings up lots of free plans for furniture. However they are mostly Americian and hence imperial sizes in (lumber, YUK!) timber. Can someone help with good quality plans in Australian sized materials.
Thanks

Wadsamadder with American plans. Do yous not like the plans. Do yous not realize that yous can also buy imperial sized timber right here in Australia.

If yous have found the plane yous likes, then it would be advantagous for yous to go out and procure an imperial tape measure and ruler. If yous don't already have one. The imperial bits are the ones on the opposite side of the tape or ruler to the metric bits.

Most lumber yards in Australia will sell by the super foot.

As a former resident of the US of A (living, and doing the God Fathers bidding here in Australia) I resent the fact that yous do not chose to like the furniture that is available for yous on the net.

G'day Colin

As much as it hurts me to do this, I have to agree with knuckles.

If you find plans that you like why worry about what measurements are used. If you are looking for plans it is usually for new and fresh ideas.

I know you sometimes get strange measurements on American plans like 31/64th etc. But it is not hard to convert the whole thing to metric. It's woodwork. Near enough is good enough!!! Make it 1/2" or 13mm and be done with it. A difference of 1/64th isn't going to matter one way or another. The timber will swell and shrink more than that under normal weather conditions.

As Knuckles suggests, just use an imperial ruler and the measurements on the plan. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face. A plan is just an idea on paper. No one will know if you change the sizes or even the design to suit your own tastes.

Good luck with the plan hunt. And don't take too much notice of Knuckles. I doubt that he even knows where he lives let alone where you live. http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/rolleyes.gif

G,day Colin, one site that you might like to try is www.skillspublish.com.au (http://www.skillspublish.com.au)
It appears that good ol'oz ingenuity is responsible for the lack of ww plans of oz origin.............We for the main part prefer to draw up our own ideas and keep themto ourselves.
You may have stumbled on a way to make a quid here by gathering up a selection of good ol'oz designs and publishing them.
