Just a few pics of the rocking chair i made for my leaving cert this year. The amount of time i spent at it, wasnt proportionally worth it for the marks it was worth in the exam (didnt care tbh)- but i figured i was as well make something decent and that id enjoy making. It took me quite a while to make it, about 6 months but that was with about only 10 hours in the week over 5 days. It was the most enjoyable thing i done all year in school anyway!
Im feckin proud of it anyway:D, and its something that i should have the rest of my life! and it'll be there after...........

first pic is of it without a finish, timber is Mahogany (i think african?)

and two more pics of it finshed.(the finish was very time consuming, about 16 hous sanding and applying the finish. 5 coats)

Great effort mate. The fact that you spent so much time and effort for the enjoyment rather than the marks speaks volumes. You'll be a woodworker for life and welcome to the club of the rest of us tragics....:2tsup:

That's a great looking piece. I could definitely handle having something like that around to relax in.
