I am desperately seeking a reliable source for small brass locks, hinges, lid stays etc for small boxes (jewellery and the like). If anyone can help Id be eternally grateful. Darwin has nothing to offer in this line and Im not waiting for the train to arrive in the hope that there will be a supplier on it.
Mail order would be great and from anywhere in the world although with the dollar being used to wallpaper Americal homes these days I would prefer something from a place less financially burdening.
I am also looking for a supplyer of Aussie timber in small quantities. There are no mills in Darwin and the cost of timber at local suppliers is almost prohibitive (and very limited).
For general interest I have just completed Cert 3 Furnishings at NT Tafe and looking to start up a small business here in hand crafted solid timber furniture. My intention is to spend the next 2 years developing my skills and establishing a market for my work.
I work from home and teach in between projects for the time being to feed me and the cat. At 53 years of age I figure I have plenty of time left to start a new career.
If there are others out there who feel like a chat talk to me on email:[email protected]
