You Turn Horsham
Saturday 25th to Monday 27th of April Anzac Weekend
Horsham Show grounds
Cost $70.00 all meals provided by the lady members of the Wimmera woodies. Breakfast not included

You will need to source your own accomodation for the 2 nights.
There is cabins at one of the local caravan parks which accomodate 4 people and cost is approx $70.00
Assistance will be provided if needed to find other alternatives.
A maximum of 80 participants so for booking and further inquiries send email to me and I will pass this onto brendan.

Basically the weekend is a social weekend where you bring along your lathe and tools and play to your hearts content. It is a good weekend to chat with other woodies glean different ideas and see how other people do their turning.

As indicated it is a social weekend so a very freindly environment. There will be lots of shavings and sawdust. You can turn all day and night stopping occasionally for meals or you can simply socialise watching what others do.

It caters for all levels of acheivement from beginers to some well known turners all with the same thing in mind to help each other so dont be put of thinking you are no good as there will always be some one there to help you move forward. These will be the cheapest lessons you will ever get.

Dont worry about the size of your lathe as there is always a team of helpers there to get you unloaded and loaded up again.

Thanks for adding that info Jim and I also like your offer to help unload all those big lathes. I'll provide moral support!

It should be a good weekend and was organized to promarily cater for those in the west of Victoria and even into SA who dont have such an event closer. BUT all welcome form anywhere and everywhere. Even Queenslanders and Kiwis!!

Had a ball at the You Turn - the first time I've been able to attend an event like this and really enjoyed the whole thing. Tripled my knowledge ( some might say that wouldn't be hard based on what I knew), , Brendan,Jim Carrol and thet rest of the team were all very generous with their time and knowledge, met some terrific blokes and put faces to some forumites.
Brendan Stemp organised the whole Horsham You Turn, ably assisted by members of the Wimmera Woodtuning Guild - well done guys!!
I know you have probably read this before on these pages but if you haven't been to an event like You Turn then try to get to one - you won't regret it! :2tsup:

I also had a great time at the first Horsham You Turn. Never having been involved in anything more organised than a visit to the Working with Wood show, it was my first experience of such events. It was well organised by Brendan (many thanks) and the local woody club, with lots of country cooking (no ripple cake, but heaps of other baked delights), and all very friendly.

Met up with some forumites (, Jim, Ern, Brendan, Lewis, David and Bruce) and a pleasant lot they all are!

Got lots of expert advice on skew turning from , which is what I wanted to concentrate on for a few days as it has been a neglected area of my turning. I made some progress but still have a fair way to go with that tool that I have neglected for too long.

Bruce (bellyup) kindly gave me some green Black Oak (Casuarina pauper) and Mulga that he brought down with him, which I look forward to rough turning before they start to dry and split.

Also won the VM90 chuck in the raffle, which I was quite chuffed about (I never win raffles) as I have also been recently thinking about adding some Vicmarcs to my Nova chuck set but was holding off until the bank balance improved. So a big thank you to Vicmarc.

I can recommend the event to anyone thinking about going next year.

Neil
