g'day, as the title says, can anyone identify the car/s the small eyeball vent came from? The large one is from an early Cortina (Ford used slight variations of this in lots of models). I have never seen a small one before. Its approx 62mm OD

thanks in advance

If it's a major car manufacturer, there should be a logo and/or part number on it somewhere. I had a 1968 Ford Escort GT and I recall it may have had smaller vents.....a bit hazy now, it's a while ago. Good luck

Could it possibly be an overhead vent from a tourist coach?

Thanks for the replies so far.

re roof vent off coach, I hadn't thought of that. The vent looks the same as the larger one just smaller which makes me thinks its off a Ford.
This particular vent is one my brother had in with some other junk. He can't remember where he got it from.

The large vents were also used in the first Bolwell Nagari's which is what I would like to get a couple of the small ones for. I'm in the process of building and intergrated air con for the Nagari and I think I could fit a couple of the small vents in the centre console. There are quite a few around that size available after market but none of them look the same as the large ones already fitted to the dash of the car. Which is why I'd like to track down the origin of the small one.

Keep thinking please.

thanks

I,m not sure but i think it may also be early Cortina, it seems to remind me of the ones in my 65 Cortina, but that was 30 odd years ago

My Grandma drove a Renault back in the early 70s ... I think it had vents like this.

I agree with Dazzler Escort and maybe Capri

The jet air vents or A/C vents of coaches were not like these they were aircraft style vents unless retro fitted

The large vent in the picture is from a MkII Cortina. I'm not sure what year that would have been, though I'm thinking around 1967 68?. I'll see if I can find a pic of the dash of a 65 corty. The truimph TR5 - TR6 had small vents that look like they have the same ball as the small on on my pic The only pics I have found (which is not many or very good) show the vent, and it looks like the vent comes through fromt he back of the dash rather than from the front.
I've discoverd that there are not that many pics on the net which show the dash's of various cars in much detail.

Ron - thanks for that, I hadn't thought of looking at reno's etc. Had confined my search to the pommie stuff.

wheelinround - I'll try and find a pic of a capri as well.

Vent in a XC GS (http://www.myworkshopandprojects.com/latestaquisitionxcgs.htm)

The Falcon one is the same sized ball as in the large vent in my pic. I added a couple of extras to the last car I did up. The XC -XF falcon vents come in from behind the dash where as the early cortina went in from the front so had a chrome bezel around the outside. They also had the adjusting knob in the middle chromed. I used the balls from a couple of XC-XF vents and fitted them to the old Cortina housings so that I could have four vents with the adjusting knob black.

The old XC GS looks like its in reasonable condition for its age.

Mk1 Triumph 2000, two small vents in the padded centre dash. There was a facelift model in about 1968 and they were in that.

The design is similar to a CE Cortina but it looks fancier. I had a '68 Cortina so it may be from a later model.

Not sure, but didn't Volvo 144's have something similar for dashboard vents?
