OK Ray, here it is! :)

American White Oak and Instia ( which is an Acacia I think).
109 pieces, sanded to 400, 5 coats of WOP with light sanding between coats.
Rubbed back with Triple EEE, then 2 coats of Trad Wax - about 50 hours.

I think the base is too small, but I was having trouble with it.

Thought of turning a new base - but what the heck ...

:o John I reckon you've been getting private lessons :roll::U no wonder I can't ring him (Lerch)

Looks amazing and such a great finish :B puts me to shame its an area I have to work at.

Love the way the grain gives the impression that its concaved in the White Ash area

The foot I am not sure have seen many an Asian vessel like that

If a foot was added I'd make it a wide lower one but I like it as is :;

How's the stability :rolleyes:

Very nice work John - most impressive as a first piece!

You'll find this segmenting thing can be quite addictive. The results, when everything works, can be quite spectacular and people will be adding their names to your list of eager recipients. From here on you'll find that even the smallest pieces of timber are a potentially valuable resource.

Excellent effort. I don't mind the small foot. Perhaps if the portion from the red band to the foot was not quite so full, it would look different. Still a very nice job. Started work on a laminated platter today.

Hi All, thanks for your comments.
Forgot to mention the size - 150mm tall x 190mm at the red band.

This was turned on my Leda mini.
Next one will be on my New HAFCO (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/showthread.php?t=85918) :D
