Outside Decking

I'm new so I hope I have posted this in the correct thread. We have quite a lot of outside decking and would like some advice on renovating it. We've recently sanded it back and applied decking oil to it, but being extremely dry, it soaked it up and is still the old dull colour. What would I use to get the "wet" look or the look of being freshly polished? I would like to have a deep rich almost glossy colour. The deck at the moment is easily scratched also. Now I am female and thought I could get some good male advice as all the people in the shops don't really have a clue sometimes so thought I would get some advice from people who have actually tried it.
