What are you all working on ?

Been head down and bum up here in Cairns working on a commissioned set of chairs and dining table. They are quite different in design and involve steaming , laminating , jointing , carving and a bit of engineering. Similar to the first set (below) for the same client. The chairs below were designed for a high benchtop . Black bean and Queensland silver ash are the two species used. The current set are conventional dining hieght , still swivel but have the timbers reversed. ie; laminated silver ash and carved black bean.

Haven't you heard of MDF up there? Much better than these greenie unfriendly exotics.

LOL , Up here in the tropics , MDF stands for Massively Damp Fungus. First sunny day in a fortnight , but we've had an average of around 7" per day for a while. Most of the jigs and moulds I used for the first set late last year are so blown , they are unusable for these. Part finished chair with long oil seal coat applied.

Hi Dave, Doin' a coupla things at the moment in between chores set aside by 'er indoors.
A few weather stations required, as well as a Grandfather clock under standing orders from she who must control plastic.

No visa for this guy unless chores seen to manely the above and I DO want to go off to the Perth WW show next month.

But no work for the next few days as SWMBO(with plastic) has decreed that we are off to a resort in Margaret River to celebrate silver anniversary....the sacrifices we guy's have to make.... could be in the shop doin' things but what the hell?

Mate at the moment I am working very very hard at catching a salmon or two over here in NZ.... I'm not greedy but at least one would be nice! Thats right, I am on holidays! back home in two weeks unfortunatly though... But work is calling already!!
