furniture design

I am in Darwin, having completed Cert 3 in cabinet making (furnishings) and am looking to increase my knowledge and skilled through a furniture design diploma. Unfortunately Darwin Tafe doesn't offer such a course. Does anyone know of any Tafe college who could offer part or all of a furniture design course externally. I have spoken to the lecturers at the tafe here and one would be willing to supervise my work where necessary if such an arrangement can be made. I look at all those lovely courses down south and drool. Unfortunately family and work prevent me from leaving this paradise in the tropics. I would be delighted if there is anyone who has some ideas for someone who wants to learn more.

hey tom, might be worthwhile contacting the Brisbane institue of Tafe, ithaca campus. They helped me when I was training apprentices to do there courses externally for polishing. But I have a feeling that was under special circumstances... But worth looking into nun the less...

Also the Aus Inst of fine furniture in Tasmania might make an interesting phone call, although I very much doubt they will be very helpful in external study.
